Makan Place is a design interpretation of Old Malacca; European style that intertwines with the implemented cultural depiction of the city’s vernacular architecture. The formulation of traditional space in Old Malacca consists of a ‘five-foot-way’, transitional entrance and an internal courtyard, with a hint of European accents.

Cooper St Residences

Cooper St Residences

Cooper Street Residence is a housing initiative that aims to fuse sustainability and affordability. Located in the rural township of Stawell in north-west Victoria, this proposal focuses on revitalising the existing homes on site by introducing diverse forms of housing together with an open community space for residents.

The Ochre

The Ochre

The proposal is inspired by aboriginal art. the building colour palette and architectural material utilized the colours from nature : earth red, walnut brown , sunny orange and bluestone. Aboriginal dot painting influenced the design idea of using perforated material for building facade which creates a sense of touch and tectonic quality to the overall architectural experience.

Noh+Nanjing Road

Noh+Nanjing Road

“Noh” in Japanese means “skill” or “talent” is a form of Japanese musical drama performed on stage with masked characters. The restaurant is based on stage design. “Nanjing Road”, busy shopping street in Shanghai. The characters of the street are full of colorful billboards of any type, neon & building lighting. The essence of the street has been captured by introducing frame laser cut panel & recesses.

Kampung Story

Kampung Story

Design intent in the overall internal ambience of the restaurant is to capture the internal environment of a traditional hut which commonly known as a “kampung”. As shadow play is one of the key cultural activities, it generates a vibrant atmosphere to the kampong community. Therefore, the essence of shadow play such as the various gradients of shadows casted, the warm light spawned through the filament light bulbs and the vibrant styles of the puppets have been carefully selected.

Burger Foundry

Burger Foundry

A prototype burger restaurant for Burger Foundry which started out initially as a “take out” cafe in Adelaide, South Australia. The design concept is based on the word “Foundry” with industrial experience to the restaurant. Aiming to a design aesthetic that emphasizes sharp lines, abrupt connections and dynamic interactions of motion.
